Embrace your fears and tell your story!

Who else, is afraid to speak their truth like me? Who else feels not good enough to be heard by others? Who else disqualifies him/herself and undermines their own strength by holding back and making them self small? Who else has these urges to speak up in groups or on social media but is afraid to be judged by others?

I have been posting a lot here in Facebook and I even spoke in front of a camera. But sometimes I have these periods where I turn into my hermit mode and don’t want to come out, because I got scared again. It’s not even that someone of somebody said anything wrong. It is my own mind telling me lies. The fear that i’m not being loved or not being or doing good enough, are dangerous ingredients for the fear of living.

Often I write something and I find It for example not good enough (a mix of perfectionism + a low self esteem), or I tell myself that others are not ready for this kind of information. Or I undermine myself by asking questions like what is the purpose of doing this, what is in it for me?  why am I doing this? Let’s be honest, the holiday seasons do have special magical powers, especially the ones in the winter. It is not special though because all of the stories we tell. Yes, the stories are part of the holiday experience. Stories about hope and peace, do contribute to this special feeling that we all together create. Stories of victory, of harmony and new beginnings. Holy days are special because, we humans, give special powers to those days.
All together
We put our best happy face on

We smile more
We do more kind things for one another
We take care of those who have less
We bless each other
We give presents to each other
We have empathy for the suffering of another
We sing songs of hope
We dress into our most beautiful clothes
We eat delicious prepared meals
We put on lights everywhere
We come together for a good time
We are grateful for what we have. And yes…. The magic works. All our effort influences our overall feeling. It influences our moods for the better and therefore the holidays are holydays. If nobody would make an effort, there would be nothing holy about the holidays. If we would not give meaning, there would be nothing special about the holidays. Continue reading Happy Holy days!
